Welcome to the Packet Intertie
The Packet Intertie is an informal collection of amateur radio repeaters located across Northern Utah, many of which are supported in part by Elijah Shades (KK7GKG). The network spans the Wasatch Front and surrounding ranges, linking analog and digital users across multiple modes and platforms.
The system is a SkyHubLink affiliate and maintains frequency coordination with the Utah VHF Society. Utah repeaters are listed as part of the SkyHubLink connected system.
All are welcome — from seasoned Extra-class operators to brand-new Technicians. This is an open, friendly system. Come on and make a call!
System Notes
Operating Guidelines
Key Up, Then Wait
Give a 2-second pause after keying before speaking. This allows all links to come up before your voice arrives.
You're on Many Repeaters
When you transmit, you're on multiple sites simultaneously. Leave breaks between transmissions so others can break in.
Half-Duplex Digital
P25, NXDN, and DMR bridge modes are half-duplex. Stepping on an active transmission does nothing and may disrupt the link.
No Kerchunking
Please identify when you key up. An unidentified carrier can cause link issues. Just say your callsign — we want to hear from you!
Emergency Traffic
Always monitor for emergency traffic. If you hear a distress call from another region, call your local 911 to relay the information.
All Are Welcome
New hams, Technicians, Extra class — everyone is welcome on the Packet Intertie. Don't be shy, come on and make a call!
